/Disability News Articles/ - HOLLYWOOD, FL, July 14, 2006 - Poet ANASTASIA CLARK announces she will be a Guest Speaker for a free tele-class offered by The National Writers Union At-Large chapter, Local 1981 of the United Auto Workers, a member of the AFL-CIO. The event will take place on Sunday, July 30, 2006 from 8:00pm- 9:00pm. EST. The tele-class is part of a new program designed to help people with disabilities explore the field of writing. Each tele-class is approximately one hour long. Membership in the union is not required. If you would like to participate in the class, please call 954-537-7557 to sign up.

Sanford Rosenthal, a South Florida activist, who is blind himself, led the campaign to establish the new program which began in March 2006. The goal was to create a forum whereby persons with disabilities could dial in to a teleconference and interact with each other- while also meeting representatives from the writing industry. So far, the program has been successful, with participants dialing in from all over the country. Rosenthal, who is the Disabilities Chairman for the At-Large Chapter of the National Writers Union (Local 1981), coordinates and leads each tele-class. Seth Eisenberg, Co-Chair for Organizing and Membership for the At-Large Chapter of the National Writers Union (Local 1981) also helps mentor each session.
