Alvin Nielsen Named Cambridge Who's Who Professional of the Year in Veterans Services


/Disability News Articles/ - LINCOLN, CA, October 03, 2007 - Lieutenant commander Alvin Nielsen, USN Retired and author of the book "Nine Lives...and Then Some!" has been named Cambridge Who's Who Professional of the Year for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of veterans services.

Nielsen has an impressive background in the military. He entered the service in September 1942. His basic training was at Mare Island, CA. He took additional training at Camp Pendleton, CA. He was also stationed at San Diego, CA. His overseas tour of duty included stints in Samoa, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Noumea, Tarawa, Tinian and Saipan. He served as a battalion surgeon and saw action in Tarawa, Tinian and Saipan. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Legion of Merit, and a Presidential Unit Citation. Now a retired naval lieutenant commander, he started Enjoy Living, a veteran services program that helps veterans in the enjoyment of life. Enjoy Living provides consulting and fundraising services and also delivers used crutches and wheelchairs to the needy. Nielsen received his bachelor of arts in business administration from Armstrong College (now Armstrong Atlantic State University). He is a certified public accountant and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars.
