Jean Massaro Inducted into Cambridge Who's Who for Excellence in Speech Pathology

/Disability News Articles/ - Suffern, NY, May 29, 2008, Jean Massaro, Bilingual Speech and Language Pathologist for her own practice and Rockland BOCES, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of speech pathology.
As a bilingual speech and language pathologist for her own practice and Rockland BOCES, Ms. Massaro's responsibilities include teaching preschool children and severely impaired and resistant children of all ages including children with autism, emotional disturbances, neurological disorders, Apraxia and feeding issues. She specializes in teaching Spanish literacy, conducting evaluations and assessments, diagnosing children with speech and language disabilities, treating Apraxia disorders and promoting phonological social skill development.
Ms. Massaro also writes reports, promotes creative drama and role-playing, teaches children's literature and story dramatization, and reinforces social skills, early language development and play. She also fosters communication through the use of sign language, helps to build reading comprehension and written language skills and offers language literacy instruction. Furthermore, Ms. Massaro plans and conducts workshops and training programs for families and professionals regarding language and literacy. She supervises interns and develops and implements social skill classes.
Ms. Massaro attributes her success to her mentors, education, communication skills and work experience. She became involved in her profession because she always had a passion for learning and teaching. The most gratifying aspect of her career is planning curriculums for kindergarten to fourth grade levels which enables her to work with children. One of Ms. Massaro's greatest aspirations is to work at the collegiate level.
Ms. Massaro received her Master of Arts in Communication Disorders from Montclair State University in New Jersey and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish Language and Literature from Binghamton University in New York. She is licensed in speech language pathology in the State of New York, a certified teacher in speech and hearing handicapped in the State of New York and is licensed in speech- language pathology in the State of New Jersey. Ms. Massaro received her certification in clinical competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. She is a member of the Ramapo School District Septa in Rockland County, the Speech-Language-Hearing Associations of New York State and New Jersey, the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, and the International Orton Dyslexia Association.
