New Website Developed For People with Diabetes
A website called Stablebloodsugar.net has been recently develop for people with diabetes. The website aims to provide tools to help these individuals manage their blood glucose.


/Disability News Articles/ - STOCKTON, CA, June 29, 2008 - A registered dietitian in Northern California has developed a new website for people with diabetes.

Stablebloodsugar.net was developed by Allison L Boyd, RD to help her clients have a one stop location to manage their disease.

Allison, who teaches weekly at the East Main Clinic and Stockton Diabetes Intervention Center, came up with the idea for the website while on vacation in Costa Rica, October 2007.

Allison originally intended to cut her vacation short so she could go a diabetes educator training at the Whittier Institute in San Diego, California. However, the night before she was scheduled to attend the class, she found out it was postponed because of the San Diego fires. She decided to stay in Costa Rica instead and when the American tourists she met on her trip found out her occupation they had many questions regarding this disease. "That's when I realized there are numerous people other than the members of my community who need help managing this disease. Diabetes is becoming a worldwide problem", Allison stated.

Allison worked with a computer programmer to set up tools to help her clients get their blood sugar under control. "I found the biggest issue for my clients is staying organized", she adds. "Before being diagnosed with diabetes, they ate whatever and whenever they wanted and now they need to watch not only what they eat but also when they eat."

Members of stablebloodsugar.net have access to tools such as an insulin calculator, a blood glucose monitoring log and a food database that provides the carbohydrate content of common food items.

The website has been live since April. The response to the website has been positive among her colleagues and some of her blogs have been published by several ezines.

Right now the website is one penny for the first 100 members who sign up. Anyone curious about joining the website can view it at www.stablebloodsugar.net.
