WOLF POINT, MT, October 29, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Donna M. McNamara, Special Education Teacher at Northside Elementary School, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in elementary education.

Currently on her sixth year with Northside Elementary School, Donna M. McNamara is a respected instructor to special-needs children. In this capacity, she is charged with creating lessons and education plans, conducting assessments of special education students, coordinating strategies with mainstream teachers, designing individualized education plans, communicating with administrators, and teaching mathematics and ability-based success for all reading groups.

Active in sundry aspects of education, Ms. McNamara also enjoys participating in Nevada City's Living History Program. Held during the summer months, it simulates a typical teaching environment in an 1865 pioneer schoolhouse in Montana. An avid proponent of state history, she also serves as head counselor of the Montana Heritage Commission History Camp. Ms. McNamara considers her involvement with the Living History Program, through which she is able to expand students' knowledge of the history of education in Montana, to be the highlight of her career. Honored with the President's Volunteer Service Award from 2004 to 2009, she attributes her success to determination and an earnest wish to be of service to people.

Ms. McNamara earned a master's degree in curriculum and instruction in 2006 from Grand Canyon University, a bachelor's degree in elementary and special education in 1996 from the University of Great Falls, and a bachelor of arts in history in 1979 from the College of Great Falls. Through the State of Montana, she is a certified special education teacher (K-12) and a certified elementary education teacher (K-8). Her professional affiliations include the Montana State Reading Council, the Montana Education Association, and the National Education Association, and the International Reading Association. Ms. McNamara aspires to become a reading specialist as she moves forward in her career.
