Yvonne C. Houston Honored for Invaluable Contributions to Public Service
Yvonne C. Houston expertly manages administrative duties and scheduling for Philadelphia's Office of Supportive Housing
PHILADELPHIA, PA, November 11, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Yvonne C. Houston, Executive Secretary for the Office of Supportive Housing, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in public service.
Driven by the desire to help others, Yvonne C. Houston embarked on a career in public service 15 years ago. She currently serves as the executive secretary for the Office of Supportive Housing in Philadelphia, PA, an agency dedicated to providing emergency, transitional and supportive housing to the community's homeless and disabled populace. Ms. Houston, who has held her current position for the past three years, recalls her early start under the mentorship of David J. Ryba, Director of the Health Department. Under his guidance, she gained a more supervisory role during the 2002/2003 year - an experience that paved the way for her transition to an executive post.
Ms. Houston is currently responsible for overseeing the various technologies associated with the Office of Supportive Housing. She also manages administrative duties, handles scheduling, and attends seminars to remain current with the trends in public service. In recognition of dedicated service, she was named Employee of the Year in 2003 - an accomplishment of which she is particularly proud.
Ms. Houston holds a bachelor of science in information technology from Pierce College, earned in 2004. She holds a certification in early childhood education and is a member of the American Society of Administrative Professionals. Aside from her efforts with the Office of Supportive Housing, Ms. Houston is an aspiring entrepreneur. She is planning to launch her own business in the coming years. The company will showcase her artistic talents as a jewelry designer, and will market and sell necklaces, bracelets and watches made from rare beads and fine gemstones.
