Ms. Susan McNeish Honored by Cambridge Who's Who
Susan McNeish is visually impaired and actively helps the disabled community
ERIE, PA, December 10, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ --Susan McNeish, Psychotherapist and Counselor at Lake Erie Counseling, Inc., has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in civil service.
Ms. McNeish has 16 years of professional experience, including three years of experience working at Lake Erie Counseling, Inc. She specializes in social work and counseling, focusing on schizophrenia and marriage therapy. As a psychotherapist and counselor, Ms. McNeish communicates with her clients, meets with nine patients per day and updates their files.
Being visually impaired, she has been a key proponent in passing and implementing major measures for the blind citizens in her community. Ms. McNeish was successful in getting Braille signage in the Erie County, Pa., public school system and in enforcing the county law that all snow must be shoveled within five hours of downfall. Additionally, she has travelled to Washington, DC and insisted that certain sidewalk curbs be changed, allowing the blind population to more easily cross the street. Ms. McNeish has also established a program, Share the Vision, which advocates rights for the visually disabled. She attributes her success to her determination to help others.
In 2009, Ms. McNeish earned a master's degree in marriage and family therapy from Argosy University. Two years prior, she received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the Southern New Hampshire University. Ms. McNeish was the co-founder of the Northwest Pennsylvania Blind Golfers Association, as well as the United States Blind Golf Association. She is a former president of the Erie County chapter and the Northwest chapter of the Pennsylvania Council of the Blind. Furthermore, Ms. McNeish also served as a representative of Guide Dogs for the Blind, and a national representative for Redken Fifth Avenue of New York and an ADA regulations advocate for the Pennsylvania Council of Rehabilitation. She is a three-time recipient of the City of Erie's Bronze City Council Award for helping disabled people. In the future, Ms. McNeish intends to obtain a doctoral degree.
