Kimberly Gumm Inducted into Cambridge Who's Who
Kimberly Gumm is being honored for excellence in special education
MODESTO, CA, April 13, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Kimberly Gumm, Teacher of the Severely Handicapped for Modesto City Schools, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in special education.
With 27 years of professional experience, she attributes her success to the support of her colleagues and friends. As a teacher of the severely handicapped, she is responsible for teaching survival skills, self help skills, pre-academic skills, language skills and daily living skills to the students. She coordinates the integration program. She became involved in her profession because she felt it was her calling. She began her career at the age of 19 by doing daycare after school and working in summer camps for the handicapped.
She is an active participant in the school site's Student Study Team. It diagnoses and implements various strategies to help make the most of each child and their education. She is on a committee to develop appropriate curriculum for severely handicapped students.
Ms. Gumm received her Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies from California State University at Chico. She has two teaching credentials: one for regular education and one for severely handicapped. both are from CSU, Chico. She holds a certification of professional assault crisis training. El Vista Elementary School is a part of the "No Excuses University."
