David T. Tipton, MA, LPCC, Honored for Accomplishments in Public Outreach
David T. Tipton started Courage to Change in 2004 with the mission to help individuals diagnosed with mental retardation and developmental disabilities to live enriched, independent lives

LONDON, KY, September 27, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- David T. Tipton, MA, LPCC, Executive Director and Owner of Courage to Change, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of public outreach.

David T. Tipton, a professional in possession of more than 15 years of experience, now celebrates his sixth year with Courage to Change, a residential care center for individuals with developmental disabilities. Driven on the philosophy that individuals make meaningful choices for themselves, Courage to Change strives to help people suffering from mental retardation and other disabilities to thrive in their everyday, independent lives.

Mr. Tipton specializes in behavioral intervention with a master of arts in counseling and a bachelor of sociology from Eastern Kentucky University. As Executive Director and Owner of Courage to Change, he is responsible for managing residential services, supervising 22 staff members, visiting clients' homes and assisting them with everyday tasks. In addition to his work with Courage to Change, Mr. Tipton also provides behavioral support services to individuals residing in other organizations. As he moves forward, he intends to start an educational program and expand counseling services.

Prior to starting Courage to Change, Mr. Tipton led an impressive 20 year career in the United States Army. He retired in 1990 as sergeant first class, and proceeded to pursue higher education. He is the recipient of two Meritorious Service Medals, two Bronze Star Medals and five Army Commendation Medals. Today, the certified hypnotherapist is a proud member of the Kentucky Counseling Association and the American Counseling Association. He is also a proud contributor to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States and Shriners International.
