Melanie Sharps Celebrates 35 Years in Education Management
Melanie Sharps coordinates early childhood programs for a regional education services agency

MORTON, PA, May 25, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Melanie Sharps, an Assistant Director of the Delaware County Intermediate Unit, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in education management.

Prompted by a desire to help students struggling with disabilities, Ms. Sharps ventured into special education 35 years ago. She brings decades of experience to the Delaware County Intermediate Unit, where she celebrates her second year as assistant director of special programs. In this capacity, she oversees all early childhood programs in the county, as well as special education, Head Start and autism programs.

Ms. Sharps holds a master's degree in special education, and elementary and secondary principalship. She maintains affiliations with the Council for Exceptional Children, ASCD, and Phi Delta Kappa International. Active in her community, she is a supporter of the Sharps Fund at the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, PAFA, The Philadelphia Orchestra Association, and The Jewish Federations of North America, Inc. Within the next five years, Ms. Sharps plans to retire and become a consultant.
